Porcelain Basin is in the Norris Geyser basin roughly in the center of the park. It got its name from the large expanse of nearly porcelain white minerals. There are some punches of color from the hot spring pools and thermal bacteria in the runoff. There are also lots of steam vents here and some small geysers.
